GroundTime — Safety Standards
Last Updated: June 9, 2026
The safety of our community is foundational to everything we build. GroundTime is a verified-Crew-only platform, and that verification is itself a safety standard — one that no general social app offers. Below are the additional standards and practices we uphold to protect Users and maintain a trusted platform.
Verified Crew Only
GroundTime is exclusively for verified airline crew. Every User must submit a photograph of themselves holding their crew identification badge and a close-up photograph of the badge. A Threadwell Labs team member reviews every submission manually. We do not accept self-attestation, screenshots from social media, or any unverified claim of Crew status. The verification gate is the first and most consequential safety standard on the platform.
We do not, however, conduct criminal background checks or any form of personal-history screening. Verification confirms that you appear to be Crew. It does not vouch for any User's character, intentions, or conduct. You are responsible for your own safety in every interaction.
Age Requirement
GroundTime is strictly for Users 18 years of age and older. Age confirmation is part of our onboarding process. Accounts that are determined to belong to Users under 18 are immediately suspended and removed.
Zero Tolerance for CSAM
GroundTime maintains a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). We use automated hash-matching technology to detect known CSAM in uploaded content. Any such content is immediately removed from the platform and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and applicable law enforcement authorities. Users found distributing or possessing this material are permanently banned and may be referred for criminal prosecution.
In-App Reporting
Users can report concerning content, accounts, or behavior directly within the GroundTime app. Every report is reviewed by our moderation team. We encourage our community to report anything that feels unsafe — your reports help us keep the platform secure for everyone.
Reportable categories include, without limitation:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or hate speech
- Sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content
- Fake or misrepresented Crew credentials
- Solicitation or unsolicited commercial communication
- Conduct at meetups that violates these standards
Moderation Model
GroundTime's moderation approach reflects the trust posture of the platform:
- CSAM scanning is automatic and mandatory. Hash-matching runs on all uploaded images and is a legal compliance measure, not a quality filter.
- Human review is reactive. Moderation of base community posts, comments, and meetup chats is driven by in-app reports submitted by verified Crew. We do not deploy AI-driven proactive content scanning for non-CSAM moderation, because we believe community-trust is best preserved when verified Crew themselves shape the standards of acceptable conduct.
- Enforcement is documented. Suspensions, removals, and bans are recorded. We do not reinstate accounts banned for safety violations except in cases of clear error, reviewed by a different reviewer than the original decision-maker.
- Repeat offenders are removed. Patterns of policy violation result in permanent account removal, including revocation of any Founding Member entitlement (without refund).
Offline Safety
GroundTime facilitates real-world meetups between Crew. Even with verification in place, meeting another person in person carries risk. We strongly encourage:
- Meeting in public, well-trafficked venues for first meetups.
- Sharing your meetup plans with a trusted friend or family member.
- Trusting your instincts; leaving if something feels off.
- Reporting any concerning conduct that occurred at a meetup through the in-app reporting tools.
GroundTime is not a party to any meetup arranged through the Service. Our Terms of Service describe the limits of our liability and the assumption of risk that comes with offline interactions.
Legal Compliance
GroundTime complies with all applicable safety laws and regulations, including mandatory reporting obligations to regional and national authorities. We cooperate with law enforcement when required and proactively update our policies to reflect evolving legal standards. Where state-specific laws apply (including biometric privacy laws covering verification photos in Illinois, Texas, and Washington), our Privacy Policy describes the relevant protections.
